I’m resisting the urge to turn off the computer and go outside to enjoy our little August preview here, as we approach 80 and nary a cloud.
OK. Resistance is futile.
While I’m gone, though, and in case you missed this, Chris Matthews got perturbed yesterday with conservative L.A. talk show host Kevin James, in a discussion about Pres. Bush’s comments to the Knesset in Israel about “appeasement” and his veiled reference to Barack Obama (not so veiled). James was spouting off in classic talk radio form and Matthews decided to see if he could put his money where his mouth was.
You can watch the whole glorious show here, but to sum up: James kept throwing around Neville Chamberlain, who of course is the conventional shorthand for “appeasement,” and Chris finally asked James what, exactly, had been Chamberlain’s grave error. James didn’t answer, so Matthews asked again. And again.
He asked, actually, 28 times over three minutes, while James sputtered and stammered and possibly took a little career detour. For someone who enjoys politics AND history, it was hilarious. For James, probably not so much.
And if you don’t care for that, here’s a Web site devoted to stuff that looks like ducks. Enjoy.
