Get A Signed Copy

Here’s the problem: I’m here and you’re there.

Also? I don’t have a garage full of my books, or a trunk or an attic. I sometimes have a few, sometimes not. On at least one occasion, I’ve been heading to a reading and had to borrow one from a friend. Hey, I just write them.

And as fun as it sounds, the idea of me running around the country on a book tour isn’t happening yet, if ever.

But you’re looking for a personal touch, and I get that. An illegible scrawl something. Glad to do it. Happy, proud, thrilled, honored. If I could, I’d sign it and then walk it over to your house.

You see the problem, then. If you want a signed copy of my book, I first have to get one from the publisher. I buy it, have it shipped to my house, wander around until I find a pen, sign it, then head for the nearest post office and mail it off. Again, glad to do it but there are some issues, most of which revolve around the cost of postage. I have in the past spent 30 bucks mailing a $15 book, which explains a lot about my personal financial intelligence but is something I’m going to avoid in the future.

So here’s what I’ve worked out. The list price for my (dead-tree, real-live-paper) book is $8.99; that’s not based on anything except the cost of printing it and other overhead. Then there’s shipping, which depends upon where you are and other factors.

If you’d like a signed copy, then, here’s how it works: Click the “buy” button below. It’s a PayPal link, which unfortunately requires you to either have a PayPal account or quickly sign up for one, although you can then use your debit/credit card. I’m sorry about that but again, I’m not in the business of selling books, just writing them. I understand if you don’t care for the process, although I will say it’s pretty painless.

The price for a signed book is $12.99, inclusive. Meaning no shipping charges; that’s factored in. If I don’t have a book on hand, I’ll order one immediately, sign it immediately, mail it immediately, although obviously there’ll be a delay. All for a signature? That’s what I say but, again. I get it.

You’ll probably pay less than 4 bucks for shipping from Amazon. And an e-book is way cheap, of course. There are options.

At any rate, that’s the deal. Again, I’m happy (ecstatic, actually) to sign an actual book and put it in the actual mail; it’s a little tricky but I think we can work this out.

And one final note: For reasons that could be obvious, I can only do this with books intended for mailing in the continental U.S. No oceans can be involved. Or Homeland Security. Believe me, it gets seriously messed up and expensive.

Thanks again for wanting a signed copy.
